Richmond Artists Alliance – Meeting Agenda
**February 6, 2025 | 10:15 AM – 11:45 AM
Scratch Eats Market, Arichat, NS

1. Welcome & Meeting Overview (10 min)

  • Brief introduction to the purpose of the meeting. (Emphasize that by artists we mean artists and artisans)
  • Acknowledgment that this is a discovery session to understand what attendees want from the group.
  • Emphasis on open discussion and participation.

2. Understanding Expectations & Interests (20 min)

  • Quick roundtable: Each attendee introduces themselves by sharing their name, their artistic medium, where they live, and in one sentence why they came this morning or what they hope this group will be.
  • Common themes recorded and briefly summarized.

3. Discussion: What Kind of Group Do We Want? (25 min)

  • Open conversation around key questions:
    • What do members need most right now—more sales, more exposure, learning opportunities, funding support, etc.?
    • Should this be primarily a networking group, a business support group, a collective for exhibitions and sales, or something else?
    • Should membership be open to all skill levels or focused on professional/semi-professional artists?
    • What values should define this group (e.g., inclusivity, mentorship, promotion of local artists)?

4. Prioritizing First Actions (20 min)

  • Based on earlier discussion, attendees vote or rank their top 3 priorities for the group.
  • Options may include:
    • Planning an exhibition, market, or community event.
    • Setting up an online presence (website, social media, newsletter) and establishing a way for members to communicate, such as an email list or group chat.
    • Creating a membership structure with defined benefits.
    • Exploring funding sources and financial sustainability.
    • Developing mentorship or learning opportunities.
  • Quick discussion on feasibility and what’s realistic to tackle first.

5. Next Steps & Future Meetings (15 min)

  • Who wants to be involved in planning the next meeting?
  • Should the next gathering focus on defining bylaws and structure or launching a project right away?
  • Discussion on meeting frequency and format—formal meetings, casual gatherings, or both?
  • Agreement on a date and location for the next meeting.

Meeting Adjourned: 11:45 AM
